Perforation & How to Tear Housie Tickets

Housie tickets are perforated between each ticket, making it easy to tear off the number of tickets each player wants to play.

However, when using a 12-up game book (12 tickets per page), there is an important tearing pattern to be aware of as players prefer to avoid duplicate numbers. This is simply a matter of personal preference and does not change the odds of winning. If a player is happy to have duplicate numbers, they can absolutely play them!

What is a 12-up game book?

A 12-up book has 12 individual housie tickets on each page. These tickets use a “rollover 4” numbering system, which means the 12 tickets can be separated into the following with no double-up of numbers:

  • Two strips of 6 tickets (6-up), or

  • Three strips of 4 tickets (4-up)

The important bit: where you tear

If players want to play 5 or 6 tickets, tear the tickets from the top or bottom of the 12-up strip, rather than tearing from the middle.

This ensures the tickets retain the correct number pattern and prevents duplicate numbers appearing across the tickets a player is using.

Refer to the ‘arrow guides’ on the 12-up ticket that show where the tickets should be torn to avoid duplicated numbers.

OUR TIP: When in doubt, always tear from the top or bottom of the strip rather than splitting the strip in the middle.

Playing 6-up?

If your tickets are supplied as 6-up (6 tickets per page), you don't need to worry about this tearing pattern. The tickets are already supplied in the correct 6-ticket format, so players can simply tear out the number of tickets they wish to play.

This makes 6-up tickets particularly easy to use - players can be confident that they won't be marking the same number twice across their tickets.
